LASD eSchool for 2023-24

Information for students in grades K-12 wishing to enroll in LASD eSchool for the 2023-24 school year.

The students enrolled in the eSchool will use online curriculum provided through the CSIU. The format of instruction includes self-paced learning through recorded videos and written material for content delivery, online and hands-on assignments, online practice activities, and online assessments. The curriculum is aligned to the Pennsylvania Standards, so the concepts and skills align to the Lewisburg Area School District's curriculum. A Pennsylvania certified teacher (but not a Lewisburg Area School District teacher) provides the instruction by monitoring the student's individual progress through the online lessons, activities, and assessments, as well as provides individual feedback to the student. The teacher also maintains the student's grade, which is transferred into PowerSchool.

Elementary eSchool Program

Students in grades K-5 will received instruction in language arts/reading, math, science, and social studies.

Middle School eSchool Program

Students in grades 6-8 enroll in four, year-long courses, and one, semester-long elective course for each semester. The parent and the student may select the elective course for one semester. The student will enroll in health as the second elective. The four, year-long courses are language arts, math, science, and social studies. The elective course options can be found in the online course catalog.

High School eSchool Program

Students in grades 9-12 enroll in up to four, required credit courses and up to four, elective credit courses. Each student's academic transcript will be reviewed by the counselor, student and parent to select courses that are on pace with the graduation requirements.

Important Details about LASD eSchool

LASD eSchool is asynchronous learning. This means that students do not have a fixed schedule. They can log into the program for learning at any time. The teacher would schedule time to work with the student as the teacher identifies the need, or the student/parent can schedule a time with the teacher.

Transitioning LASD eSchool to and from In-person Instruction

Students in the LASD eSchool can transition into in-person instruction. There is a ten day trial period where the student and parent can determine if this is effective for the student. Students can also transition into LASD eSchool during the school year if a need arises. They remain active LASD students.

Students' grades from the LASD eSchool will appear on the students' report cards and transcripts.
